About

The Firm

Samford Family Law has been part of the local community since 2016, originally founded by Justine Dean. In July 2023, Samford Family Law changed ownership and is now operated under the banner of Hensen Maxwell Solicitors.

We primarily offer services in all areas of family law from pre-relationship (also known as ‘pre-nup’ arrangements) to separation involving property and superannuation splitting, parenting arrangements, child support, and domestic and family violence.

Our Tamara Hensen lives locally and is keen to continue the great work of Samford Family Law by providing family law and other services to the Samford area.

We are now bringing the 35+ years of experience and assistance of the great team of our parent firm locally to Samford.

Tamara Hensen – Legal Practice Director
Bachelor Laws, Bachelor Psychological Science, Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice

My main passion is family law and helping people through what is often the worst time of their lives. I pride myself on providing comprehensive and practical advice to help my clients understand the situation and make informed choices.

Due to the frequent cross-over into other practice areas, I have broadened my horizons over my career and can assist with other legal areas either as part of an overarching family law matter, or separately such as Wills & Estates, or conveyancing (purchase & sale of residential property).

I started my legal career working alongside Justine Dean (Samford Family Law’s founder), and have the same straight forward approach and primary goal of achieving an amicable resolution in all matters. I believe in trying to find solutions, rather than de-railing the process, but will still be my client’s advocate whenever needed.

Over the last 10 years that I have been working in the family law and child protection sphere, I have found that the needs of everyday families have changed, and oftentimes have become more complex. Our average families now often have business/trust structures or self-managed superannuation funds; or involve family members with mental health issues or who are neurodivergent. I have ensured to keep up with these changes through ongoing professional development, and often assisting clients in with matters involving some or all of these complex issues.

If you are involved in a family law matter, or contemplating commencing or ending a relationship, I can help you make informed choices about your best way forward. I know that your money is best spent on your future and your family, not on lawyers.

"I really appreciated your straight forward, down to earth approach"
